Rock Dominoes

The children really enjoyed playing with the rock dominoes I made last week. It took a while to make them because I made so many but I love adding materials that children can use both outdoors and indoors.

I purchased river rocks and put a piece of masking tape around the middle of each rock. The next step was to paint the ends of the rocks. I painted the rocks with different color ends as well as with the same color ends which created a variety of ways children could match the colors. After the paint was dry I carefully removed the masking tape. You can see video of this activity here.

  5. This is nice. And it is funny, that someone still needs to put the stones in straight lines and right angles same as domino pieces, you see? Stones are so lovely, that we can come out of that box and use them freely and make domino circles and smooth curves :-) Nice idea !
